Are you worried that your child has fallen behind in math?  Since the pandemic, student performance in math has fallen significantly.  Although students have moved up in grade level, many realize that their math knowledge & understanding still lingers far behind.  Left unaddressed, each school year will result in further gaps in student success and lower math confidence in students. 

Action is necessary. Students need help outside of school. They need help with homework (so parents don't have to battle with their child in the evenings, after working all day!).  Students need short lessons & practice, provided in a way that allows them to see that they CAN do it ... and then the magic happens .... confidence goes up & math becomes fun!

The details ….

• ASM is open to 3rd-7th grade students.
• Drop the kids off with homework from school, weekly practice sheets (grades 6 & 7), make-up work, extra credit, or any other math work … and we will help!!
• Each drop-off is one hour.
• No homework?  No problem!  We will work to close gaps & practice!  We have computers, materials, & coaches ready.
• Each student will have their own (free) IXL account to use with us and at home.  
• We TEACH the topics!  Mathocity is unique …. we provide the most important (often missing) piece when using IXL with students. Your student will not be sitting in front of a computer to do work that he/she does not know how to do!
• For topics, we will use a short diagnostic in IXL to identify gaps in their learning. From the results, we will create a plan to close gaps, practice topics that they are working on in school, and get ahead!!
• Bonus:  along the way, we will teach them about the importance of being neat & organized on all math papers, show them the best methods to take notes in class, and how to keep track of their work.

The Mathocity Method....

With each new topic, we use the “I Do, We Do, You Do” approach.  

• I Do: the coach will teach & work through examples.
• We Do: the student & coach will work together on examples & practice.
• You Do: the student will have the confidence to finish the remaining problems on their own … and if they get stuck, our coaches will be there to help!

The goal is to teach & practice, then let them work on their own to build confidence and become independent thinkers. ASM students must be able to work on their own for a bit, while the math coach helps other students. The ratio of coaches to students is 1:5, so your student will have plenty of attention and help, but they do need to work independently when a coach is helping another student.
