Can I join a class after it has started?
In most cases, we can make that happen. First, we will give the student a diagnostic (no charge) to see if they are ready to jump right in. If they need some help first, we can have a few private math coaching sessions to get caught up and then they can join the class.
Do all classes start in September?
Classes that are listed with days/times on our website, start September 1st and end in April/first week of May. Additional classes can be added as needed ... contact us and let us know what you need.
What will we do in class online?
The instructor will give the students a lesson on the topic and will work through lots of examples together. We use the “I do, We do, You do” approach so that everyone in the group can practice in class to make sure they understand the material.
Do I need a book or any other materials for class?
All you need is a pencil, a calculator (nothing fancy) and paper. For some class sessions, the instructor will email you documents to print for class...so have those ready too!
How much practice work (aka homework) will I be doing each week?
Math takes practice! It is expected that each student spends 2-3 hours per week on the material. We will use IXL for practice assignments. We chose IXL because it is very student friendly, providing step-by-step instructions when a problem is answered incorrectly. An IXL acccount will be provided to all students enrolled in a Mathocity class.
