Can I join a class after it has started?
In most cases, we can make that happen. First, we will give the student an assessment (no cost) to see if they are ready to jump right in. If they need some help first, we can have a few private tutoring sessions to get caught up and then they can join the class.
Do all classes start in August & January?
No. Classes can start any time!! To request a class, click on the “Priority Waiting List” link (in the dropdown under ‘Math Classes’), fill-out the short form, and we will contact you asap to get the ball rolling.
What will we do in class online?
I will give the students a lesson on the topic and we will work through lots of examples together. We will use the “I do, We do, You do” approach so that everyone in the group can practice in class to make sure they understand the material!
Do I need a book or any other materials for class?
All you need is a pencil, a calculator (nothing fancy) and paper. For some class sessions, I will email you documents to print for class...so have those ready too!
How much practice work (aka homework) will I be doing each week?
Math takes practice! It is expected that each student spends 2-3 hours per week on the material. We will use IXL for practice assignments. We chose IXL because it is very student friendly, providing step-by-step instructions when a problem is answered incorrectly. An IXL acccount will be provided to all students enrolled in a Mathocity class.
